Munich Introduction

The city of Munich is the third largest city in Germany and the capital of the Bavarian region. There is a strong sense of tradition in Munich and you can find all the typical German stereotypes. The locals still dress in traditional outfits, particularly during Oktoberfest, the men in Lederhosen and the women in their dirndls while you will also find majestic castles, omm-pah music, an overwealming amount of beer halls & gardens and of course the famous ginormous one litre glasses of beer!

While there are some amazing attractions and events in Munich including the main city center square the 'Marienplatz' and the famous Cathedral of Our Lady 'Frauenkirche' the attraction that everyone associates Munich with is undoubtable Oktoberfest. An event that attracts over 6 million visitors that consume more then 5 million litres of beer and over 200,000 pork sausages. The party doesn't stop there as Munich has a high quality of life and a massive student population ensuring that there is a vibrant night life all year long.
